PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Jonnique Lawrence ran the meet’s fastest times in the prelims of the 200 and the 400 meter dash at the ECAC/IC4A Championship Meet on Saturday afternoon at Princeton.
Lawrence recorded a career-best time of 53.44 in the 400 meter dash, and was also first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.72. The finals for both events are scheduled for Sunday.
A trio of athletes qualified for the finals of the 100 meter hurdles as Taranisha Taylor, Elizabeth Kline and Evann Thompson all finished within the top-16 and advanced to tomorrow’s title race.
The women’s 4x100 team placed first in qualifying with a season-best time of 45.08, while Natalie Ryan set a PR in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:00.75. Ryan however, placed ninth and did not advance to the finals.
In the field, Taylor Slaney set a personal-record and finished second in the javelin with a throw of 47.35m (155-04), and Haley Springman tossed a PR of 47.32m (155-03 feet) in the discus and placed eighth overall.
For the men, Carvin Nkanata placed fourth in prelims of the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.14, and the 4x100 meter relay team was also fourth with a time of 41.22 seconds. Andrew Wells was sixth overall in the hammer throw with a toss of 52.66m.
