PITTSBURGH - After day one of the University of Pittsburgh Annual Blue/Gold Meet, Team Gold is leading Team Blue 44-39.
As the majority of the track events are Saturday morning, Friday's competition was focused on the field events. In the High Jump competition, Luke Gallaher cleared 6-4, while Natalie Ryan topped 5-1 for their respective teams.
Brittany Lightfoot won both the Weight Throw (52.425 feet) and the Shot Put (43.10), while Andrew Wells won the Wight Throw on the men's side with a distance of 50.4 feet.
In the jumps, Ashley Corum won the long and triple for the women with distances of 18-425 and 40-8 feet, respectively. Reggie Steele also won both events for the men with distances of 21-9 feet in the long jump and 43-8 in the triple jump.
The only events that were run on Friday evening were the 60 Meter Dash and the 60 Meter Hurdles. In the women's 60 Meter Dash, Jonnique Lawerence won the event in 7.27, while Josh Thompson took first on the men's side with a time of 6.55. Taylor also won the women's 60 Meter Hurdles in a time of 8.62.
Competition resumes tomorrow morning at Fitzgerald Field House with the remainder of the track events. Day two is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m.
