As a Redshirt Sophomore (2000) Dionne Hayden appeared in 15 matches as a redshirt sophomore...recorded 12 kills and 10 digs on the year...also had four blocks...saw action in five Big East matches and had eight digs...recorded her first career kill in a win over St. Francis (Pa.) (Oct. 11) and had a career-high six kills in the match...hit .667 versus the Red Flash with six kills on nine attempts without an error...had a career-high six digs at Boston College (Oct. 1)...sank five kills on a career-high 14 attempts...also had five digs and two block assists in the match...her first career solo block came versus Syracuse (Oct. 7). As a Redshirt Freshman (1999) Hayden saw limited action during her redshirt freshman campaign...contributed in two Pittsburgh victories over Niagara and Boston College...played in her first collegiate match Sept. 10 in a 3-0 sweep of Niagara in the Pittsburgh Volleyball Classic...recorded her first career dig and assist in the match...also stepped into the lineup in a 3-0 win over the Eagles Nov. 14 in the final match of the season. As a Freshman (1998) Hayden utilized a redshirt option during her freshman campaign. High School Hayden was elected twice as a member of the first team All-District, first team All-Conference and first team All-County...received honorable mention honors at the 1996-97 All-Metro...participated in the D.C. All-Star Game and was a member of the 1996-97 Asics Metro Volleyball Club of Maryland...was an honor roll student...earned three letters for coach Terrie Kerley...also lettered in basketball...received an academic scholarship to Elizabeth Seton High School...was a delegate of the Ambassador's Club and awarded the National Science Foundation Scholarship...served as an intern with Ruecsh International, a foreign exchange corporation.
