AS A FRESHMAN (2006)
In her first season with the Panthers, Kim Kern made an immediate impact as one of Pitt's most devastating blockers...put up eight blocks in just her second match against Arkansas-Little Rock (Aug. 25)...had eight more that weekend against Ole Miss (Aug. 26)...broke the school record for most block assists by a freshman in a match with 11 against Villanova (Oct. 1) while also setting career highs with 10 kills and 19 attacks...earned Big East Rookie of the Week honors after that performance against the Wildcats...put up eight blocks against USF (Oct. 8)...had nine blocks and nine kills against Syracuse (Oct. 22)...contributed nine blocks in the Panthers' win over Notre Dame (Nov. 11)...recorded five blocks against Marquette in the Big East Tournament (Nov. 17)...put up eight or more blocks in seven matches throughout season...had second highest total on team for blocks (157).

Kern completed her senior season with 241 kills, 208 digs and 79 blocks...a Florida 5A all-state selection...named Bradenton Herald Player of the year...led her team to the Florida 5A regional playoffs...named an all-tournament player, all-area selection and MVP...team won the Manatee County Tournament...played for the Manatee Area Volleyball Team and Sarasota Volleyball Academy...also named to the all-area team in soccer...a member of the National Honor Society.
