Monica Macellari was limited during the 2007 season due to an injury, but saw action against Duquesne and St. John's.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2006)
Macellari played in 19 games and 12 matches as a sophomore...opened her 2006 season against Western Carolina (Aug. 26) where she recorded one dig...played against No. 12 Tennessee (Sept. 8)...put up one block against Marshall (Sept. 9)...had career highs with eight kills, 30 attempts, nine digs and one assist against Eastern Illinois (Sept. 16)...had two putaways against St. John's (Sept. 22) for a .333 hitting percentage...had one dig and one assist against Long Island (Oct. 27)...recorded three putaways against Louisville (Nov. 5).
AS A FRESHMAN (2005)
Macellari made 10 appearances as a freshman, including the first two starts of her career at the Pitt Invitational...also played in the first two Big East matches against Villanova (Sept. 24) and Rutgers (Sept. 25)...had four kills and hit .429 in her first collegiate match against South Carolina (Sept. 2)...had season bests of six kills, six digs, two aces and two blocks in the Panthers' win over American (Sept. 10)...had three kills, a dig and a block in the loss to Miami (Ohio) later that same evening...put away two of her three attacks in the loss to UConn (Nov. 11)...had one kill, two digs and a block off the bench vs. St. John's (Nov. 12).
Macellari was named the team MVP and a first-team Northern Indiana Conference selection while at S.B. Clay High...she is the school's career kills leader with 1,002...played club volleyball for the Midwest Juniors Club team...was a four-year starter for S.B. Clay's basketball team and participated in the shot put for the track and field team...was selected as the state of Indiana's Wendy's High School Heisman Trophy finalist.
