As a Sophomore (2000)
Carrie Norris experienced another strong season at Pittsburgh as a sophomore...earned All-Big East (second team) honors after ranking second in the conference with 12.74 assists per game overall and third with13.38 in league play...also tabbed an AVCA Northeast Regional All-American...was named to the all-tournament team at the Cowgirl Classic and the Carolina Fall Preview...averaged 2.55 digs per game and had a team-high 43 aces...also posted 44 blocks...set a new Pittsburgh match record with 80 assists versus Notre Dame on Oct. 8...ranks fourth all-time in the Pittsburgh annals with 2,307 career assists...had 13 double-doubles (assists and digs) on the year...recorded 60 or more assists in a match five times...established a new career-high with 21 digs versus Southwest Missouri State (Oct. 14)...sank a career-high six blocks against Rutgers (Nov. 5) with one solo block and five assists...had eight kills for a career-high at West Virginia (Nov. 10)...sank four aces twice including versus Miami (OH) (Sept. 9) and Syracuse (Oct. 7)...stuffed a career-high two solo blocks against Notre Dame (Oct. 8).
As a Freshman (1999)
Norris capped a stellar freshman campaign by earning Big East All-Rookie Team honors...played in every match and earned a starting role in 11...averaged 12.39 assists overall and 13.53 in Big East matches to rank her second among both overall and conference leaders...had 867 total assists to place her sixth on Pittsburgh's all-time list after just one season...was third on the team with 2.39 digs per game in all matches and was second with 2.72 digs in Big East action...served 15 aces and had 49 kills...twice earned Big East Rookie of the Week honors...the first honor came Oct. 11 after she recorded two double-doubles as Pittsburgh split matches with Connecticut and St. John's...earned her second honor Nov. 8 after leading the Panthers to a 3-1 victory over West Virginia (Nov. 5)...also averaged 0.34 blocks per game with 24 total blocks...had seven double-doubles for assists and digs...had her first double-double with a then career-high 53 assists and 15 kills in a 3-1 win over Akron (Sept. 11)...recorded 60 or more assists three times including a career-high 66 against Providence (Nov. 13)...had four-straight double-doubles from Oct. 30 through Nov. 13...was named to the Pittsburgh Volleyball Invitational All-Tournament team.
High School
Norris was a three-year standout for Head Coach Dave Reinhart at Hopewell-Loudon High School...was a two-time Midland Athletic League honoree (1997 and 1998)...recorded 702 assists and 168 digs as a senior and 840 assists and 148 digs as a junior...led her Hopewell-Loudon team to state titles in 1997 and 1998...voted first-team District VI in 1997 and 1998, and was named the District Player of the Year during the 1998 season...twice earned All-State honors (1997 and 1998)...helped her team to three Midland Athletic League Championships (1996, 1997, 1998)...her team also captured sectional, district and regional championship titles in the same years...was also a basketball standout and helped lead her team to the Ohio state championship in 1999...earned honorable mention Northwest Ohio and Midland Athletic Conference league honors in 1998...was an honorable mention District VI selection and second team Midland Athletic league selection for basketball in 1999...was the National Machinery Citizenship award recipient each year from 1996-99 and was its scholarship recipient as a senior...named a Who's Who Among High School Students...was a three-year member of the National Honor Society...named her high school's outstanding senior female athlete in 1999...given the 1999 Archie Griffith Award...played one year for the Toledo Volleyball Club and two for the Black Swamp...also spent three years with the Sen-San club team.
