As a freshman (2000) April Puzauskas provided solid backup for Pittsburgh as a freshman...appeared in 24 matches and 56 games during her rookie campaign...averaged 1.12 digs per game (63 total) and had seven kills...also had six aces...sank two kills in her first two collegiate matches against North Carolina (Sept. 1) and Coastal Carolina (Sept. 2)...recorded a career-high nine digs at West Virginia (Nov. 10)...had a then career-high eight digs versus Campbell (Sept. 23) in the Bulldog Invitational...contributed six digs at Providence (Sept. 30).

High School Puzauskas was a two-year starter while at Amos Alonzo Stagg High...earned all-state honorable mention honors...also selected all-conference and all-area...averaged 4.0 kills per game...served as team captain her senior year...led her team to the regional championship in 1999...was selected Player of the Week by The Star...in 1998, her team finished first in the Nike Preview tournament along the way to a 29-10 record in 1998...her team at Amos Alonzo Stagg captured the conference championship her freshman and sophomore years...also played four years for the Lions Juniors club team.
