PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Panthers volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to visiting St. John's today at Fitzgerald Field House.

St. John's captured a 30-25 win in game one, but Pittsburgh rebounded to take game two, 30-23. The Red Storm prevailed in game three, 30-20, before the Panthers forced game five with a 30-21 win in the fourth game. St. John's took the match after a 15-11 victory in the final game.

Pittsburgh sophomore Wendy Hatlestad (Roseville, Minn./Roseville Area) led all hitters with 28 kills while also adding 18 digs for her third double-double of the season. Redshirt junior Dionne Hayden (Mitchellville, Md./Elizabeth-Seton) also performed well with 17 digs and five blocks, while freshman Gini Ullery (Tracy, Calif./Tracy) added 15 digs. Senior Heather Haff (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) added a match-high 10 blocks (one solo and nine assists).

Pittsburgh's record stands at 5-6 overall and 2-1 in the Big East. The Panthers return to action Oct. 5 when they travel to Georgetown.
