Washington, DC - The Pittsburgh Panthers volleyball team dropped the first of two Big East matches on Friday with a 3-1 (18-30, 30-19, 24-30, 16-30) setback to Georgetown.

Sophomore outside hitter Wendy Hatlestad (Roseville, Minn./Roseville) led Pittsburgh with 17 kills while also adding two blocks and an ace. Freshman middle hitter Abby Fechhelm (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah High) posted her first career double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Fellow freshman Gini Ullery (Tracy, Calif./Tracy) added a team-high 13 digs and redshirt junior Dionne Hayden (Mitchellville, Md./Elizabeth-Seton) had 11 digs. Junior setter Carrie Norris (Fostoria, Ohio/Hopewell-Loudon) had 41 assists.

Pittsburgh's record stands at 5-7 overall and 2-2 in Big East play. The Panthers return to action Oct. 7 when they travel to Virginia Tech.
