WASHINGTON, D.C.—Earning its seventh shutout of the season, Pitt’s women’s volleyball team won a match over Georgetown in straight sets with scores of 25-9, 25-15 and 25-18. Pitt improved to 12-7 overall and 3-1 in the Big East, while the Hoyas slipped to 11-10 on the year and 1-4 in the conference.
Senior Meagan Dooley led the squad with 11 kills and a .733 hitting percentage. She also recorded a match-high eight assists.
Sophomore setter Allyson Hodnik tallied 29 assists on Pitt’s 33 kills. She also recorded two service aces in the match, while junior Amy Town chipped in seven kills.
In the first set, three Panthers collected three kills including sophomore Rachel Kalberer, Dooley and Town. Defensively, Pitt held Georgetown to a negative 10 percent hitting and out-blocked them 5-0.
Later, the Hoyas recorded 14 hitting errors in the second contest, while junior Imani Harper collected two kills and a .667 hitting percentage.
In the final set of the match, Dooley recorded six kills off nine swings. Senior Melissa Stadelman led the set with four blocks.
As a team, Pitt recorded a season-beast .429 hitting percentage in the match, recording 43 kills.
The Panthers travel to USF on Sunday, Oct. 11, for a 2 p.m. match.
