MORGANTOWN, W.Va.--Posting their seventh shutout of the season, the Pitt women's volleyball team defeated rival West Virginia, 3-0, this evening. The Panthers won with scores of 30-22, 30-27 and 30-22.

The Panthers (13-10, 6-3 Big East) held West Virginia (12-10) to a negative .044 and .054 hitting clips in game one and three, respectively.

Leading Pitt was senior Diana Andreyko (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin), who recorded 13 kills and seven digs in the contest. Across the board, junior Jessica Moses (North Olmstead, Ohio/Lutheran West) recorded a match-high .733 hitting percentage, added 11 kills, seven blocks and three digs.

Defensively, sophomore Michelle Rossi (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) garnered 21 digs in the match.

In the closest game of the match, Pitt and West Virginia tied five ties in game two. Once tied at 5-5, Pitt went on to take a 15-10 lead after sophomore Megan Dooley (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) recorded one of her four kills of the second game.

However, the Mountaineers would make a comeback and tie the game at 21. On the next play Moses would record a kill, assisted by freshman Emily Burke (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral). Burke led the Panthers with match-high 41 assists.

Moses would then record an ace and Andreyko would tally a kill as the Panthers went on to the eventual win.

In game one Moses recorded five kills and three block assists, while Andreyko had five kills in game three.

The Panthers host Marquette and Syracuse next weekend at the Fitzgerald Field House.
