Final Stats

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Panthers volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to visiting George Mason today at Fitzgerald Field House.

George Mason captured the first game, 31-29, but Pittsburgh rebounded for a 30-24 win in the second game. The Patriots won game three, 30-19, and the Panthers forced the final game with a 30-25 victory in the fourth game. George Mason ultimately prevailed, winning the deciding game, 15-13.

Three Panthers recorded double-figures in kills, led by sophomore Wendy Hatlestad (Roseville, Minn./Roseville Area) who had 27. Freshman Abby Fechhelm (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah High) added 13 kills and fellow frosh Gini Ullery (Tracy, Calif./Tracy) had 11.

George Mason was led by Aline Pereira who had a match-high 31 kills and Natalia Torres-Tirado who had 18 kills.

Pittsburgh's record stands at 7-11 overall and 4-4 in the Big East. The Panthers return to action Oct. 23 when they travel to Duquesne.
