PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Panthers volleyball team notched its fifth Big East Conference victory of the season with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Syracuse tonight at Fitzgerald Field House.

Pittsburgh came out strong to take the first game, 30-22. The Panthers momentum continued and captured both the second and third games by a 30-24 margin.

Sophomore Wendy Hatlestad (Roseville, Minn./Roseville Area) led all hitters with 18 kills, while also adding 11 digs. Freshman Gini Ullery (Tracy, Calif./Tracy) added 14 kills of her own and junior setter Carrie Norris (Fostoria, Ohio/Hopewell-Loudon) had 40 assists and 14 digs. Junior Dionne Hayden (Mitchellville, Md./Elizabeth-Seton) added 10 digs and five blocks.

The Panthers will play their home regular season contest this Sunday, Nov. 4 at Fitzgerald Field House when they host Notre Dame at 2 p.m.
