Women's Volleyball Finishes Second in Spring Tournament

April 11, 2009

COLUMBUS, Ohio—The University of Pittsburgh women’s volleyball team finished its spring season with a 14-2-2 record after it travelled to Ohio State and finished second at the six-team spring tournament.

The Panthers won two-set matches over the host Buckeyes and Kent State, while splitting with Michigan and Cleveland.

In last week’s Kent State Tournament, Pitt went 5-0 and earned the title with straight-set victories over Youngstown State, Duquesne, St. Francis, Cleveland State and the host Golden Flashes.

The Panthers’ spring season was highlighted by wins over Kansas State, the Buckeyes, Wake Forest and Albany.

12 letterwinners from the 2008 roster will return this fall, as Head Coach Toby Rens begins his second season at the helm of the program.
