Pitt volleyball hosted its Blue-Gold Intrasquad Scrimmage at Fitzgerald Field House this afternoon. Blue took the win,3-1. We spoke with first-year head coach Dan Fisher after the match get his take on preseason training and what the team is looking to accomplish as it heads into the regular season.>
Jessica Wynn led the team last season with 267 kills. She returns for her junior year at outside hitter looking to increase her kills output for a third straight season. PittsburghPanthers.com caught up with her today to ask about preseason and to get to know her on a personal level.

Zitzke enters her junior season already ranking 7th all-time in assists at the University of Pittsburgh with 2,136. Jacobson saw extensive playing time as a freshman and logged over 230 assists and 140 digs last year.

Here is the complete 2013 Pitt volleyball schedule. The Panthers will play three non-conference matches against teams that were Big East opponents last season, including UConn, USF and Rutgers. Pitt will participate in three road tournaments before hosting the Pitt Panthers Invitational which will serve as the final tune up before ACC action.
The AVCA Top 25 National Rankings came out yesterday. Florida State is the only ACC team ranked (No. 18), while three others (UNC, Miami and Notre Dame) are receiving votes. The 2012 defending National Champions Texas Longhorns are preseason No. 1.
Junior Delaney Clesen has played a big role on the Pitt volleyball team throughout her first two years, but her role will increase even more this season as she takes over as the libero. Clesen is well on her way to the 1,000 digs club as she enters her first season as the true defensive leader with 580 career digs.

Monica Wignot returns to the Panthers for her senior season as the team leader and has the potential to be on end of the season ACC awards lists. She was a second-team All-Big East performer last season and ranked 3rd during league action in aces per set (0.37) and 9th in blocks per set (1.07).
We caught up with Monica to get her thoughts on the beginning of the season and the competition of the ACC.

We're back! The University of Pittsburgh volleyball team has officially started its inaugural season in the ACC as training camp is underway. Saturday marked the first day of practice with a morning and afternoon session. The Panthers play their first contest in just 20 days as they take part in the Tiger Classic hosted by the University of Missouri.
Preseason central will be your in depth look at everything pertaining to training camp, including: video interviews with players and coaches, practice updates and Q&A's.
The Panthers return their core group of players from last season and in all, have 14 returners, five of which were starters.
