Zitzke had a season-high 53 assists against Tulane
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomore setter Lindsey Zitzke has been named to the the Big East Weekly Honor Roll for her MVP efforts last weekend at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Classic hosted by Tulane University.
Zitzke posted three-consecutive double-doubles in New Orleans. In the opener against Sam Houston State, the Dublin, Ohio native had 46 assists, 14 digs, four blocks and four kills. She followed that up with a season-best 53 assists against Tulane and also registered 14 digs, four kills and three blocks. Zitzke concluded her tournament with 46 assists, 10 digs, three kills and one block against Mississippi State.
In all, Zitzke dished out 145 assists (12.08 assists per set average), with 38 digs, 11 kills, eight blocks and six service aces as she led the Panthers to a perfect 3-0 weekend.
This is the second time Zitzke has been named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll this season. She first received recognition the week of Aug 27th for her efforts during the Mortar Board Premier hosted by Purdue University.
The Panthers are back in action this weekend as Pitt travels to participate in the Ball State Invitational. Pittsburgh will play the host Cardinals, Wyoming and Wright State while in Muncie, Ind.
