PROVIDENCE, R.I.— Senior Kelly Campbell garnered Big East Weekly Honor Roll accolades for the first time this season, after leading Pitt to a perfect 4-0 week, announced league officials on Monday. This is Pitt's second honor of the season.
Named the Pitt Invitational MVP, Campbell (Mansfield, Ohio/Mansfield/Pacific) led the squad with 56 kills during the tournament and posted 72 kills in all four contests during the week. The team leader in kills (170) and aces (12), Campbell also has five double-doubles on the year.
In a 3-0 decision over Robert Morris, Campbell tied a career high with five blocks, while collecting a then-season high 16 kills.
As the week continued, Campbell set season bests in each match, including 19 kills against Gonzaga, 19 digs and three aces in the Eastern Michigan victory and then her season-high 20 kills in the championship match versus Virginia Commonwealth.
Additionally, she chipped in 42 digs, nine block assists and five aces in the four matches.
The Panthers travel to Villanova on Saturday, Sept. 27, for their first conference match of the season.
