Oct. 8, 2012
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – With 15 kills at Marquette and 12 more at Syracuse, junior Monica Wignot of the Pitt volleyball team has been named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by league officials on Monday afternoon.
Moving from outside hitter to middle blocker last week, Wignot proved to be a quick learner by compiling 27 total kills (3.86 kills per set) and accounted for 4.71 points per set. The Wilkes Barre, Pa. native also added four service aces and three blocks to her weekend stat line.
Coming off a victorious three set sweep at Syracuse, the Panthers look to build some momentum headed towards post-season play with a weekend home-stand against Georgetown and Villanova this Friday and Sunday at Fitzgerald Field House.
