PITTSBURGH--The University of Pittsburgh women's volleyball team hosts Duquesne on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Field House.
Pitt (16-12) enters the contest riding a two-match win streak as the Panthers swept St. John's (3-2) and Connecticut (3-1) last week. Senior Kiesha Leggs put down 20 kills against the Red Storm and freshman Delaney Clesen recorded a career-high 21 digs in the win over the Huskies.
Leggs leads the team in both kills (355) and total blocks (107). She ranks fourth in the Big East in kills, hitting percentage (.316) and points (424). Freshman Lindsey Zitzke is second among conference leaders in aces per set (0.42) and is fourth overall in assists with a 10.25 average.
The Dukes (17-10) are coming off a pair of road losses to Charlotte (3-2) and George Washington (3-2). Duquesne was led by Sara Scheriman with a team-high 21 kills and 12 digs against the Colonials on Sunday.
Scheriman paces the Dukes with a 3.26 kills per set average, while Taylor Jones boasts a 10.55 assists per set average.
Pitt leads the series against Duquesne, 38-3., however, the Dukes have won the last two, including a five-set thriller in 2009.
