PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior middle blocker Monica Wignot has landed a spot on the Big East’s final Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by league officials on Monday evening.
Wignot tallied 29 kills in three matches, while hitting at a .311 clip. She also collected 17 total blocks, good for a 1.55 blocks per set average.
In Pittsburgh’s tournament clinching victory against Villanova on Sunday, Wingot tallied eight kills and a team-high eight block, leading the Panthers to a season-best 16 blocks at the net.
The Wilkes Barre, Pa. native helped the Panthers to a perfect 3-0 week as Pitt solidified the seven-seed in this week’s upcoming Big East Tournament. The Panthers will play tournament host and second-seeded Marquette on Friday night at 7 p.m.
This is Wignot’s second conference recognition of the season.
