PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Pitt’s women’s volleyball team earned the seventh seed in this weekend’s Big East Championship and faces second-seeded Cincinnati at 6 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 21, at Fitzgerald Field House.

The Panthers garnered their fifth Big East Championship berth in the last six seasons. Additionally, this year marks the 10th time Pitt will host the conference tournament on campus.

Should Pitt win its quarterfinal match on Friday, the Panthers will face the winner of the No. 3 Louisville/No. 6 Syracuse contest at 3:30 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 22.

Pitt enters the match coming off a sweep over Marquette on Sunday. In that contest, sophomore Amy Town (Orillia, Ont./Orillia) recorded 11 kills, while junior Meagan Dooley (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) collected seven blocks.

Pitt boasts 11 Big East titles, which is the most by any league school. The Panthers last won the Big East Championship in 2003, at Notre Dame’s Joyce Center Court.
