2006 Pitt Football Schedule
Pitt will host an attractive seven-game home schedule -- one more home game than last year and the most at Heinz Field since 2002. Although dates and times are being finalized, the Panthers have a set slate of home opponents that includes the best of the Big East Conference and non-league games against foes from the Big 10 and Atlantic Coast Conference.
The Panthers' 2006 home opponents are:
- West Virginia (11/16/06, 7:30 PM), Pitt's "Backyard Brawl" rival and winner of last year's Sugar Bowl.
- Virginia (9/02/06, 7:00 PM), a perennial ACC contender which has advanced to four consecutive bowls.
- Michigan State (9/16/06, 3:30 PM), a historic Big 10 team which visits Pitt for first time since 1960.
- Louisville (11/25/06), the 2005 Big East runner-up and Gator Bowl participant.
- Toledo (9/30/06), annually one of the nation's top offensive teams looking to advance to a fifth consecutive bowl in 2006.
- Rutgers (10/21/06), a rising program which played in the 2005 Insight Bowl.
- The Citadel (9/23/06), a first-time opponent that annually squares off against college football's best.
