SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Pitt women's basketball senior guard Taryn Barbot has been named to the 2027 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced Tuesday.
The Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, presented in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), honors the top shooting guard in NCAA Division I women's college basketball. The award is named after Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Ann Meyers Drysdale, the first player, regardless of gender, to be selected to an All-America Team in four consecutive college seasons.
Barbot is one of 20 players nationally named to the 2027 watch list. The Floral Park, N.Y., native enters her senior season at Pitt following a standout three-year career at College of Charleston, where she established herself as one of the nation's premier scoring guards.
In 2025-26, Barbot earned CAA Player of the Year, All-CAA First Team, CAA All-Defensive Team and CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors after leading the Cougars to a historic season. She started all 33 games and averaged 20.1 points per game, ranking 16th nationally in scoring while leading the CAA in scoring, 3-point field goals per game (2.5), 3-point field-goal percentage (36.1) and free-throw percentage (87.2).
Barbot scored 664 points during the 2025-26 season, setting Charleston's Division I single-season scoring record, while becoming the program's all-time Division I scoring leader with 1,715 career points. She also recorded 82 3-pointers, 109 assists and 77 steals on the season.
The senior guard posted four 30-point performances in 2025-26, including a 36-point effort in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at No. 3 Duke. Her 36 points marked the most scored by an individual player in an NCAA Tournament game at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
The 20-player Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List will be narrowed to 10 candidates in February before being trimmed to five finalists in March. Players can play their way onto and off the list at any point during the 2026-27 season.
